Cooke, a Singapore-based partner, was named 2023 Innovator of the Year for conceiving, developing and coding Reed Smith’s award-winning Arbitration Pricing Calculator, a first-of-its-kind mobile app designed to help estimate the maximum costs of arbitration at more than 40 arbitral institutions across the world.
This marks the second year in a row Reed Smith has taken home this honor. In 2022, the Innovator of the Year (Individual) award went to Bryon Bratcher, managing director of Gravity Stack, the firm’s legal tech subsidiary.
Senior Director and former Chief of Legal Operations Jack Nelson was one of two winners of the 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award. Nelson was honored for his overall legal career, leadership and contributions to the growth of Reed Smith. The awards also spotlighted his vision in greenlighting Gravity Stack.
Reed Smith was further honored in four other categories at the 2023 awards, at which it was named:
- One of three finalists for ESG Enablement through Technology, spotlighting the firm’s global ESG practice and it’s work on cutting-edge energy transition matters.
- One of two finalists in Regulatory Technology for the Post-Dobbs Tracker, an innovative subscription-based tool that helps clients efficiently track legislative developments regarding maternal health care.
- One of three finalists in Litigation and eDiscovery for the firm’s proprietary forensic and data analytics tools.
- One of three finalists in Emerging Technologies for the firm’s work on innovative web3-related projects and popular Guide to the Metaverse.
Winners were honored at an in-person awards ceremony on March 20 during the Legalweek New York 2023 conference.
