Globalized world, the future of digital technology. Connections and cloud computing in the virtual world. World map with satellite data connections.

To determine Latin America’s top 100 lawyers, Latinvex analyzed a combination of factors, including recent track record on major deals and business, prominence of firm in Latin America and rankings by third parties such as Chambers and Partners, Legal 500 and LSEG.

Astigarraga, who joined Reed Smith in 2017 as global head of the firm’s international arbitration practice, has played a leading role in the practice’s global growth and its rise to become a member of the GAR 30, the Global Arbitration Review’s ranking of the world’s top 30 arbitration firms. He has represented many of the world’s leading companies involved in disputes within and outside Latin America and consistently ranks among a handful of the top attorneys worldwide for international arbitration disputes in Latin America. Astigarraga was recently honored by Latin Lawyer as the recipient of its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award 2024 and by Legal 500 Latin America’s 2024 edition as a member of its Hall of Fame.

Rivero serves as head of Reed Smith’s Latin America Business Team. He advises clients around the world on complex commercial, commodities, construction, energy, joint venture, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, partnership, and renewables matters advocating in both English and Spanish. Rivero’s most recent representations involve large-scale disputes in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, England, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Spain, Switzerland, the United States, and Venezuela. Under Rivero’s leadership, Reed Smith’s LatAm group was recently named to Latin American Corporate Counsel Association’s list of top law firms that represent Latin America's biggest companies and was recognized in Legal 500 Latin America’s 2024 edition for its international arbitration, project finance, energy and infrastructure capabilities in the region.

This is the 12th time Astigarraga has been recognized as top 100 lawyer by Latinvex and Rivero’s 10th time being included on the list.
