Reed Smith announces return of partner Niket Rele, strengthening Global Corporate Group in Miami

MIAMI – Global law firm Reed Smith announced that Niket Rele has rejoined the firm in its Miami office as a partner in the Global Corporate Group. Rele was previously a partner at Reed Smith from 2015 to 2022.

“We are thrilled to welcome Niket back to Reed Smith,” said Matthew Mohn, co-chair of Reed Smith’s Global Corporate Group and chair of its U.S. Corporate Group. “His sophisticated cross-border transactional experience and deep understanding of global markets make him an outstanding addition to our corporate platform. Niket’s return enhances our ability to deliver high-value counsel to clients on complex international transactions and reinforces the continued strength and growth of our corporate team.”

Rele represents established and emerging companies in matters related to mergers and acquisitions, private equity, corporate finance, strategic alliances, joint ventures, and general corporate counseling. He is particularly recognized for his India–U.S. practice, advising India-based public and private companies on M&A, dispute resolution, and other legal matters, and advising U.S.-based companies on their India market entry strategies and M&A.

In addition, Rele routinely represents service providers and customers with respect to outsourcing matters. He structures and negotiates sole-sourced and competitive-bid outsourcing arrangements, including business-process engagements, IT services, knowledge-process outsourcing, software licensing, and technology transfers. His work regularly involves assisting clients with litigation, international arbitration, import/export compliance, employment, data privacy and security, and restructuring.

“Niket brings outstanding corporate transactional experience to our Miami team,” said Francisco A. Rodriguez, managing partner of Reed Smith’s Miami office. “His cross-border capabilities complement our renowned litigation and disputes platform here, strengthening the Miami office’s position as a strategic hub for clients with complex international business needs.”

Rele’s return builds on Reed Smith’s commitment to its Global Corporate Group while also enhancing the firm’s capabilities related to India, which is a dynamic and important market for a growing number of firm clients.

“I’m excited to return to Reed Smith and reconnect with colleagues across the firm,” said Rele. “The firm’s global reach, collaborative culture, and strong corporate platform provide an excellent foundation to serve clients on their critical business matters. I look forward to contributing to the growth of the practice and supporting clients on complex cross-border opportunities.”

After his first stint at Reed Smith, Rele was a partner at Arnold & Porter. Before then, he was a partner at other U.S. firms and also worked at reputable top-tier law firms in India. Rele is qualified to practice law in both the United States and India and is fluent in Hindi and Marathi. He earned his LL.M. from American University and his LL.B. and undergraduate degree from Bombay University.
