Arthur (Arkie) K. Engle

Staff Attorney

As a staff attorney at Reed Smith, Arkie provides firmwide support to the Litigation and Business & Finance Departments in federal and state court cases throughout the country, using local counsel for cases outside Pennsylvania. His practice focuses on defending lenders, investors, and financial services providers against claims of wrongful foreclosure, consumer fraud, unfair and deceptive practices, TILA, RESPA, and FDCPA violations, and predatory lending practices. Arkie also represents credit card companies against claims of violations of the FCRA, FDCPA, TCPA, and state law claims. He handles the preparation of pleadings, motions, and discovery, settlement negotiations, and communications with clients, opposing counsel, and other counsel. Arkie places an emphasis on seeking early case resolution and cost-effective representation of the firm's clients.

Obtained defense verdict in bench trial for property seller sued by buyer who claimed fraud and breach of contract for faulty septic system.
Successfully solo-chaired 18-day jury trial on new home purchasers’ claims against contractor and realtors for fraud and violation of the New Home Warranty Act.
Procured condemnation award in bench trial for property owner whose commercial property was taken in highway development project.
