Ann Shazell, Global Lead Lawyer, Ocean Transportation, Cargill
Ann Shazell is the Group Lead Lawyer of Cargill’s Ocean Transportation business, based in Geneva, Switzerland. She is an English-qualified solicitor, who practiced with leading shipping law firms in London and Hong Kong, before joining Cargill in 2010. Ann regularly participates in Bimco drafting sub-committees, including the committee that recently drafted Bimco’s EEXI, ETS and CII clauses.
Steve Davies, Chief Executive Officer, Anglo International Shipping
Steve is the CEO of UK dry bulk shipowner, Anglo International Shipping. Prior to Anglo Steve was the CEO of the global maritime services arm of a UK based dry bulk shipowning group overseeing newbuild supervision, the worldwide trading of the owned and managed fleet, and maritime consultancy services to shipowners, operators, investors and financial institutions. He is a member of the institute of chartered shipbrokers, and holds a LLM in maritime law and BscEcon in Economics.
Nick Austin, Partner, Reed Smith
Nick is a partner in Reed Smith's Transportation Industry Group, with a focus on shipping and international trading disputes in court, arbitration and mediation. He acts for vessel owners and operators, charterers and traders in a wide range of dry shipping and commodity disputes, including charterparty, bill of lading and environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues. He supports clients in the extractive and LNG sectors on their marketing and transportation needs, and maintains strong links in the Japanese market.
Nick lectures on legal aspects of shipping and trade, speaking regularly at conferences organized by Asdem, Coaltrans and Oxford Princeton. He also conducts tailored workshops for Lloyd's Maritime Academy and individual clients.
Nick is an executive committee member of the British Maritime Law Association and sits on the Council of the London Shipping Law Centre. He is also a supporting member of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association.
Nick is described by Legal 500 as "very talented" and is recommended as a notable practitioner "who knows his stuff" by Chambers & Partners.
Jos Standerwick, Chief Executive, Maritime London
Jos Standerwick has been Chief Executive of Maritime London since 2017, the trade association responsible for maintaining and growing the UK’s position as the world’s leading provider of maritime professional services. In addition to Jos’s responsibilities as CE of Maritime London, he co-chaired a UK Government working advising on Financial Products for the Shipping Industry, sits on the UK government’s Clean Maritime Council, the Department for International Trade’s Thematic Services Working Group, the National Council of Maritime UK, the London International Shipping Week (LISW) Steering Group and chairs the LISW Conference Working Group. Jos is also a trustee of the Maritime London Officer Cadetship Programme.
Yannis Calogeras, UK & Ireland Marine Chief Executive, Bureau Veritas
Yannis Calogeras is currently UK & Ireland Marine Chief Executive at the Classification Society Bureau Veritas. Currently based in London and having worked in BV for nearly 24 years, in a variety of positions and roles from surveying to business development, he has had to understand and apply the key regulatory changes impacting the maritime industry and none more so than today, with the huge challenges of decarbonization that the shipping sector is having to tackle.
