Global law firm Reed Smith today announced that its aviation practice is one of only three firms shortlisted as ‘Finance & Legal Team of the Year’ in the eVTOL Insights Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Awards 2024.

Highly experienced with more than a decade of commitment to the sector, Reed Smith is at the forefront of providing legal advice and guidance on drones, eVTOLs and other unmanned aircraft systems, particularly since publishing its 2015 white paper, ‘Crowded Skies: Opportunities and Challenges in an Era of Drones’, authored by a team of 24 attorneys.

Richard Hakes, aviation partner and chair of the firm’s Transportation Industry Group, said: “We are delighted to have been recognized by eVTOL Insights for our work in the advanced air mobility sector. We understand that AAM will revolutionize air transportation and there is a pressing need to act now to understand the legislative, regulatory and infrastructure needs of this emergent technology.”

Earlier this year, Hakes was the first ever attorney in private practice to be named in eVTOL Insights’ Power Book 2024, which celebrates 20 thought leaders, influencers and innovators shaping the landscape of the advanced air mobility market. Prior to this recognition, in 2023, the firm’s transportation policy and analysis lead, Julia Norsetter, formerly of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), was recognized in eVTOL Insights’ ‘Women in eVTOL: Special Report 2023’.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony which will take place after eVTOL Insights’ Montreal Conference on Thursday, May 2.
