Gareth was head of the King & Wood Mallesons’ SJ Berwins Tax practice in London and the co-head of its EUME Tax practice. He was also head of King & Wood Mallesons’ Global Employee Benefits practice.

He advises on domestic and cross-border M&A for private equity houses, management teams, and public and private companies across a number of sectors. He also advises on private equity fund establishments, co-investments, and carried interest arrangements. He also advises on the tax aspects of corporate finance transactions, corporate restructurings, venture capital transactions, real estate transactions, hedge fund structures, and tax disputes.

Shanghai Yuyuan Tourist Mart Co. Ltd on its $112m acquisition of 80% of the shares in the International Gemological Institute group of companies (a diamond grading/certification business) from its founders.
