Who Should Attend
Attorneys and business executives involved with patent transactions or other monetization mechanisms
Why You Should Attend
In 2011, patent transactions increased in magnitude to the extent that the mainstream press has taken notice. As an example, the bidding war for the Nortel patent portfolio and the Google acquisition of Motorola Mobility were both covered by virtually every major media outlet. The mobile device sector in particular has seen huge patent transactions and commensurate litigation.
These transactions and others make it clear that companies are ever more cognizant of the need to supplement, expand and strengthen their existing patent portfolios to respond to specific IP threats, proactively and reactively, and galvanize their businesses to withstand competitive threats.
This conference will explore patent transactions and the patent marketplace, how patent monetization works, and how specific patent transaction enabling processes can be best utilized for buyers and sellers.
The faculty includes the country's leading patent strategists, buyers and market-makers who will share their insights and experiences around patent sales and other transactions, with a focus on optimizing those transactions for the benefit of all parties. They will discuss and provide real world examples on how quality patents are developed, identified, valued and sold or otherwise monetized. Attendees will learn tips and strategies to manage the buying and selling process, conduct due diligence, manage risks and participate successfully in the market-making process.
Program Co-Chairs: Marc S. Kaufman, Esq., Reed Smith LLP and Zack Higgins, Esq., Epicenter IP Group
