After years of lobbying, the EU directive on Copyright is about to be adopted. At its heart, one controversial article aims at reshaping rules governing the liability of platforms: article 13. Art. 13 was lobbied for to address the ‘value gap’: the perception that platforms derive unreasonable value from enabling their users to make available copyrighted works, without prior permission, but it has now emerged as much more.

This session will focus on how article 13 is about to change the music industry.
