Andrew L. Hurst, a partner with Reed Smith LLP, has received the Bar Association of the District of Columbia (BADC) Young (Under 40) Lawyer of the Year award at the organization's annual banquet Saturday, December 3rd at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C.   Also honored at the Event were Chief Judge Rufus King of D.C. Superior Court, and United States Attorney for the District of Columbia Kenneth Wainstein.

Hurst is a member of Reed Smith's Regulatory Litigation Practice group, and focuses his his practice on civil and criminal fraud and abuse litigation and counseling to local businesses.  He received the award for his service to BADC and its charitable activities, and his work with small and emerging
businesses.

Founded in 1871, the BADC is a voluntary bar association composed of members of the District of Columbia Bar who have joined together to promote the public interest.   It is the second-oldest, and one of the most prominent, voluntary bar associations in the United States. The BADC Foundation supports research and educational programs relating to the administration of justice and makes grants to fund programs that provide legal services affecting children in the District of Columbia.
