International law firm, Reed Smith is pleased to announce the appointment of Catherine May, as a Partner in the firm’s European Litigation practice, based in London. The Reed Smith Richards Butler Litigation practice will comprise 90 lawyers across Europe, when the merger goes live on the 1st January 2007.

Cathy, a leading professional indemnity, insurance and commercial litigation lawyer, joins the firm from specialised insurance firm, Davies Lavery, which she joined as a Partner in 1999. She has a wealth of experience in defending claims brought against architects and other construction professionals, barristers and solicitors, chartered accountants, chartered surveyors and valuers and insurance brokers. Cathy acts for composite and mutual insurers, Lloyd's syndicates and insureds in relation to professional indemnity claims.

Belinda Paisley, who will assume the leadership role of the Reed Smith Richards Butler, European Litigation practice, commented:
