International law firm Reed Smith has been awarded Best Trainer – large City law firm at the annual LawCareers.Net Training & Recruitment Awards. The awards, which recognise the best recruiters and trainers among law firms, were based on a large survey in which nearly 3,000 trainee and newly qualified solicitors were asked to provide feedback on their training and recruitment experience.
Law Careers.Net is an online resource for future lawyers, which provides comprehensive guidance on how to go about joining the legal profession. It includes information on the route to becoming a solicitor, CV and interview preparation and firms who offer training contracts and vacation schemes. The parent company is Globe Business Publishing who also produces the Training Contract & Pupillage Handbook (an in-depth guide for students looking for a training contract).
Other law firms shortlisted for the award included: Allen & Overy, Ashurt, Baker & MacKenzie, Berwin Leighton Paisner, Clifford Chance and Bird and Bird.
Terry Green, partner and Training Principal, commented:
"Reed Smith really values their trainees and devotes much time to ensuring that they all get the best possible training in order to develop into excellent lawyers. We are very pleased to see that our efforts have been recognised but we will not rest on these laurels. We will continue to refine our training to ensure we keep our award next year!"
Lucy Crittenden, Reed Smith’s Graduate Recruitment Manager, commented:
“I am really pleased that Reed Smith has been recognised for its training, especially as the award is based on feedback from trainees and NQs rather than a firm submission. Our team work really hard to make sure that we offer our trainees the best training so it is great to be able to highlight this to students, and prospective trainees, through winning this award.”
