Global law firm Reed Smith has won the award for Innovation in Recruitment at the prestigious Personnel Today Awards 2013.

The only law firm shortlisted in the awards, Reed Smith fought off competition from the likes of Barclays, Birmingham City Council, Boots, RSA and Sovini. Reed Smith won for its unique graduate recruitment campaign, which the judges described as “future-focused. Engaging and bang on the money for the community they are trying to reach”.

The winning entry included the Law Firm of the Future video competition, where students from four universities in London each created a short film on what they thought the law firm of the future would look like; the new LPC with Business Master’s qualification, which incorporates the mandatory legal practice qualification but also requires recruits to apply commercial learning to a live business project; and finally the partnership with King’s College London to support its Anglo-French degree, with a view to attracting lawyers with international mind-sets and experience.

Lucy Crittenden, Graduate Recruitment Manager, commented:

“We’re really pleased our innovative thinking was recognised in these national cross-sectoral awards alongside leading companies like EDF Energy, Asda, McDonald’s Restaurants, Tesco and more.”
