The Lloyd’s List Asia Pacific Awards recognise and embrace APAC as the world’s fastest growing economic region and are judged by a panel of independent, industry-respected judges.
The i-law maritime law award celebrates the very best in the legal profession and is awarded to a firm which has offered the best service to the maritime industry over the past 12 months. The judges were looking for examples of exemplary expertise and commitment to the shipping industry as well as clear examples of innovation through which lawyers have played a crucial role in notable cases, restructuring or dispute resolution.
Reed Smith’s shipping practice in Asia is centred in its Hong Kong and Singapore offices and offers both litigation and ship finance expertise. Reed Smith offers direct access to shipping law advocacy before the Singapore Court (through its Formal Law Alliance with Resource Law LLC) and Hong Kong Courts, as well as in arbitrations – all under the same roof. The team also benefits from one of the foremost wet practices with three mariners, one Extra Master Mariner and one Master Mariner.
Edward Liu is an associate based in the firm’s Hong Kong office specialising in shipping litigation. He has been shortlisted for the Next Generation Award which seeks to recognise a young, up-and-coming shipping industry leader who has made an outstanding contribution to the industry.
The winners will be announced at a gala dinner on October 26 at Singapore’s Shangri La Hotel.
