Wells’ selection on this prestigious list, announced Thursday at a gala in Washington, is based upon her unique experience, prominence and influence among her clients, colleagues, peers and the industry. According to the Global M&A Network, the Top USA Women Dealmakers comprise an “A-List of the most talented, respected and brilliant women dealmakers.”
“I am honored to be recognized among such an exceptional group of women dealmakers. I have been very fortunate in my career to work with extremely talented client teams, superb colleagues and generous mentors,” Wells said. “Reed Smith’s dedication to excellence and passion for client service is exhibited through our outstanding deal teams who partner with our clients every day.”
Wells is the former Co-Leader of the Reed Smith US Corporate Securities Practice and an M&A veteran lawyer with more than 20 years of experience. Widely known for her ability to anticipate clients’ needs and provide insightful, creative legal and business solutions, Wells is long-time trusted counsel to many of the firm’s most high-profile clients.
“This is a great recognition and well deserved,” said Matthew J. Peterson, Head of Reed Smith’s Global Corporate Group in the US. “When you have a complex cross-border deal with a lot of moving parts, you want Kristi leading the team for you to get it done to meet your business goals, and to get it done efficiently.”
Wells has extensive cross border M&A experience counseling clients and leading large multi-jurisdictional deal teams in high-profile, high-value transactions in various industries. She has led some of the most prominent acquisitions and divestitures for SKF, one of the world’s largest bearings manufacturers, including its $1.3 billion acquisition of Kaydon; its $1 billion acquisition of global powerhouse Lincoln Holdings, Inc.; and several recent divestitures. She also has significant capabilities in the sports industry, having represented long-time client and five-time Stanley Cup winning Pittsburgh Penguins and Lemieux Group for many years.
“Kristi possesses a rare combination of legal wisdom, business acumen, and agility – no deal is too complicated for Kristi and the Reed Smith team,” said SKF USA’s General Counsel, Theodore P. Barry. “Plus Kristi always remains focused on the goal: a sale, merger or acquisition.”
