Reed Smith proudly announces that M&A partner Kristin Wells has been named by Legal Intelligencer as a “most effective dealmaker” among lawyers in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The publication announced its 2020 Professional Excellence Awards on May 27.

At the firm level, Reed Smith was spotlighted in two prestigious categories: it is one of three finalists for Law Firm of the Year and one of three firms to be named Most Innovative Law Firm.

With these awards, the Legal Intelligencer highlights the work and achievements of the Pennsylvania legal community. The print and web-based news publication is owned by American Lawyer Media, publisher of the National Law Journal and American Lawyer magazine.

Wells is a partner in Reed Smith's Global Corporate Group in Pittsburgh, and is the former co-leader of the U.S. Corporate Securities Practice Group.

Wells has more than 20 years’ experience supporting marquee clients with their most high-profile deals in various industries, including sports, manufacturing, automotive, retail and life sciences. In 2019, she closed deals for long-time clients such as SKF, Lemieux Group and the Pittsburgh Penguins, and Dick’s Sporting Goods.

She brings a deep understanding of her clients’ businesses and industries, and understands that deals are about the client and never about the attorneys who execute them. Listening to her clients’ objectives and continually learning are key to her ability to hold deals together and close transactions in line with her clients’ goals.
