Reed Smith’s FinTech capabilities gained broader recognition from Chambers and Partners, with the global law firm earning two new international 2021 rankings. The legal directory ranked the firm’s FinTech capabilities for the first time in Germany and Singapore, and repeated its 2020 ranking for United States FinTech: Legal.

Furthermore, Counsel Hagen Rooke, known for his work with distributed ledger technology, tokenization, and cryptocurrencies, was ranked for the first time for Singapore FinTech: Legal.

Three individuals – Simon Grieser (Germany FinTech: Legal); Jeffrey Silberman (USA FinTech: Legal); Herbert Kozlov (USA FinTech: Legal) – were listed as recommended contacts in the editorials.

According to London-based Chambers, “Reed Smith's FinTech practice [in Germany] is an increasingly central aspect of the firm’s identity, and brings a combined offering of financial services experience and dedicated specialists in technology and IP law. The result is a practice well-positioned to assist businesses operating at the cusp of the financial and digital sectors.”

Elsewhere, the publication said: “Reed Smith offers the Singapore market a robust, full-service FinTech practice. The team utilises its lawyers' strong expertise in financial regulatory and technology matters to advise a diverse roster of domestic and regional clients on commercial and complex regulatory matters. The firm is most notably active in the crypto sphere, but is also proficient in digital banking, payments regulation and data privacy issues.”
