Communicorp is Ireland’s largest commercial radio group with a market-leading portfolio and weekly audience of more than 1.75 million.

The deal will see Bauer Media acquire Communicorp’s Irish stations including Today FM and Newstalk, excluding Communicorp in the UK which runs Global brands.

Through this transaction Bauer Media enters the Republic of Ireland and extends its audio business to eight countries, further developing its position as Europe’s leading commercial radio operator with more than 55 million weekly listeners.

The Reed Smith team that advised on the deal was led by partners Philip Taylor and Stephen Mooney, with support from partner Caspar Fox and associate Thomas Baxter.

The transaction remains subject to customary regulatory approvals.
