“As a senior lawyer with expertise in both commercial and consumer banking, extensive transactional and enforcement experience, and substantive knowledge of the issues influencing the FinTech and cryptocurrency space, Lisa’s arrival establishes Reed Smith’s financial institutions regulatory practice as an industry leader,” said Jodi Schwimmer, global co-chair of Reed Smith’s Financial Industry Group. “Her extraordinary connections within the bank regulatory community will provide clients with comprehensive insight and knowledge to support their business initiatives and growth. We are thrilled to welcome her to the firm.”
Ledbetter joins Reed Smith from Jones Day, where she led significant global initiatives in financial regulation, anti-money laundering, and financial technology. She was previously deputy general counsel at Freddie Mac and held senior positions at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Ledbetter began her career representing the interests of the banking industry as regulatory counsel for the American Bankers Association and Independent Community Bankers Association.
“Our D.C. office is home to a roster of highly regarded and accomplished lawyers with deep regulatory expertise across many of the key industries we serve, including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, energy and natural resources, and banking and financial services,” said A. Scott Bolden, managing partner of Reed Smith’s Washington D.C. office. “Lisa’s arrival brings significant clout to our bank regulatory capabilities and signals to the market that we are the go-to firm for traditional, FinTech, and non-bank institutions in need of counsel who can guide them through the various complexities of federal and state banking laws and rules.”
Highly regarded among her peers and across the industry, Ledbetter has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America for Banking and Finance, as a BTI Client Service All-Star, as an Acritas Star Lawyer, and as the sole D.C. recipient of the International Law Office’s Client Choice Award for Banking.
