MIAMI – The University of Miami School of Law has established an endowed scholarship in the name of Reed Smith associate Nicole “Nicky” Langesfeld, who tragically passed away in the June 2021 collapse of the Champlain Towers South in Surfside, FL.

The Nicole "Nicky" Langesfeld, J.D. '19 Memorial Law Scholarship, was created to celebrate and honor Nicky’s life and memory. It is funded in part with a $100,000 donation from Reed Smith and personal donations from the firm’s lawyers and staff. The scholarship can reward its first recipient by the fall of 2022, according to the school. Langesfeld earned her J.D. from the University of Miami Law School, where she was a member of the University’s Business Law Review.

Langesfeld was Reed Smith’s first summer associate in the Miami office in 2018, and she joined the firm the following year as an associate in its Insurance Recovery Group. Her practice focused on litigating and settling insurance coverage disputes on behalf of policyholders. As a bilingual lawyer with Argentinian roots, Langesfeld also worked on international litigation matters.
