“At a time when institutional investors and fund managers are facing increased regulatory scrutiny, Joseph brings significant experience with high-end private fund formation and investment management,” said James Tandler, co-chair of the Reed Smith Global Corporate Group. “Private investment funds are the source of some of the most complex and challenging transactions, and having someone whose focus is on this particular area will be a great benefit to our fund clients.”
Suh advises investment managers in the structure and formation of a wide range of private investment funds, including private equity funds, real estate funds and hedge funds. Reed Smith’s global platform, collaborative partnership and broad scope of legal practice areas were chief among the reasons he decided to move to the firm.
“When I started speaking to Reed Smith lawyers, I came away with a genuine sense that this is a true partnership,” Suh said. “With the firm’s culture of collaboration and broad range of capabilities, all the various areas of practice needed to assist funds as they establish and grow will be available to my clients. Investment managers typically expect their law firms to act as trusted counsel to resolve and advise on a wide range of business, regulatory and tax needs instead of providing assistance only on discrete transactions and dispute resolutions. With such demanding clients, a fully committed and integrated team approach is key to success for the firm and for our clients.”
“Adding top-level talent to our Global Corporate Group in New York is among our strategic priorities,” said Cindy Minniti, office managing partner in New York. “Joseph’s capabilities complement our existing practice, and will allow us to greatly expand our service to clients in this area. We’re thrilled that he has joined the team.”
