LOS ANGELES – Mara Curtis, a partner in Reed Smith’s Labor & Employment Group, has been named by The Recorder as one of its 2022 Lawyers on the Fast Track, which honors the year’s top 40 lawyers in California under the age of 40.

Curtis and other honorees will be spotlighted at The California Legal Awards 2022 on Nov. 3 in San Francisco.

Curtis was included on the 2022 Lawyers on the Fast Track (under 40) winners list for her winning record in wage and hour class cases that presented novel issues for industry-leading grocery, retail, transportation, logistics and health care clients.

Overall, Curtis has handled more than 100 wage and hour class actions before state and federal courts. These cases have presented the full gamut of related employment issues, including overtime, minimum wage, meal and rest period, waiting time penalty, and wage statements among other issues.

Curtis was also highlighted for her significant experience in complex preemption and exemption issues that arise in the transportation industry, including federal and state motor carrier exemptions, commerce clause and dormant commerce clause preemption issues, and Federal Aviation Administration Authorization Act preemption matters.
