CENTURY CITY – Reed Smith today announced that Marjorie W. Norman joined the firm as a partner in its intellectual property practice, resident in the Century City office. She joins the firm from Willkie Farr & Gallagher, where she was a partner in its Intellectual Property Department.

Norman’s practice focuses on helping high-profile individuals and leading brands obtain and protect their intellectual property through domestic and international trademark preparation and prosecution, including portfolio strategies, licensing, clearance, and opposition and cancellation proceedings. She also counsels clients on intellectual property issues in connection with corporate transactions, including ownership structuring, asset transfers, and portfolio review and expansion in preparation for acquisition.

“I am excited to join Reed Smith’s global platform and well-established trademark and brand protection practice, which is exceptionally well aligned with my clients’ needs,” said Norman. “In particular, I look forward to working collaboratively with Reed Smith’s entertainment, advertising, FDA, and intellectual property lawyers, as well as leveraging the firm’s technology and innovation resources.”

Norman’s work focuses on the entertainment, sports, fitness, and food and beverage industries, and she also advises a wide variety of clients in the consumer products and services industries. Her clients include some of the world’s most high-profile individuals and companies.

“Marjorie is a strong addition to our trademark practice and she enhances our intellectual property presence in Southern California,” said James Hultquist, chair of Reed Smith’s intellectual property practice. “Many of her clients are household names and her work in the entertainment and media space dovetails perfectly with work we are doing globally. We look forward to the energy, connections and experience she brings to the firm and our clients.”

A 2006 graduate of Emory University School of Law, prior to her time at Willkie Farr, she was a partner at Venable.

“I am delighted to welcome Marjorie to our office,” said Cisca Mok, Reed Smith’s Century City office managing partner. “We look forward to adding the individuals and brands she represents to our growing list of well-known, highly respected clients. I know she will quickly connect with our lawyers to provide value to our clients as well as introduce her clients to Reed Smith.”
