The firm will move a short distance from its current office at Broadgate Tower in early 2024. The Blossom Yard & Studios buildings are approximately 126,000 square feet, made up of 10 floors of new offices and a connected three floor converted warehouse that form part of the wider Norton Folgate development. London is Reed Smith’s largest office, with over 350 lawyers and nearly as many professional staff based there.

The Norton Folgate development, including the Blossom Yard & Studios buildings, is based on the concept of blending the old with the new, with architects carefully restoring the existing Georgian and Victorian warehouses, showcasing and preserving the industrial features while also delivering new buildings that complement their environment. The wider development will provide five new restaurants/cafes, one bar and eight shops.

The buildings were chosen because they best matched the firm’s requirements for the highest quality, cutting-edge working environment but with a unique character and feel. They are a place to bring together the firm’s people and its clients, which is truly reflective of Reed Smith’s distinctive personality. The new space will provide the opportunity to create an office of the future, one that fosters community and collaboration while supporting the firm’s new ways of working.

Blossom Yard & Studios have been developed to the highest sustainable standards and have an ‘excellent’ BREEAM rating, which is the internationally recognized certification for eco-friendly buildings. It will use 100% renewable energy throughout the building and is smart enabled to reduce its carbon footprint.

Andrew Jenkinson, Reed Smith’s London office managing partner, said: “While literally just across the street from our current office, Blossom Yard feels a world away from the City. The events of the last two years have led to fundamental changes in the way we work together. This led us to rethink the space we need for the future and how we can use that creatively. Our people have more choice and flexibility in how and where they work than ever before and our new offices will be an attractive, vibrant and dynamic destination.

Tamara Box, Reed Smith’s EME managing partner, added: “We know our distinct culture is something that helps us stand out from our peers and this truly unique proposition embodies that difference. Blossom Yard reflects who we are – a progressive law firm with a prestigious history and a collegiate and innovative approach.”
