The firm has offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, and excels at representing foreign firms’ interests in the PRC. Here are the practice areas in which the firm was listed this year:
Regarding the corporate and M&A practice, Legal 500 said the firm “supports its clients on both inbound and outbound M&A, with particular experience in advising on energy and heavy industry deals.” Jay Yan leads the team from Shanghai. Beijing-based Eric Lin and Shanghai-based Amy Yin also earned mention.
The projects and energy practice is led by London-based Prajakt Samant and Eric Lin. “Noted as ‘invaluable‘ when it comes to complex transactions, the team at [Reed Smith] represents clients in regulatory, transactional and financing matters, with a focus on the mining and oil and gas sectors,” the guide stated.
Legal 500 ranks firms based on technical aptitude and consistent quality of team members; market share, track record, the ability to take on the biggest deals, prestigious clients, and other factors.
In prior years, these listings were subsumed in the Legal 500 Asia Pacific volume, but the publisher decided on a separate listing for the PRC, excluding Hong Kong, for the 2023 rankings.
