Kevin is a counsel in Reed Smith’s Life Sciences and Health Industries Group. Kevin’s practice focuses on life sciences product liability litigation and multidistrict and mass tort litigation. His experience includes representation of many major manufacturers of medical products including numerous cardiac and orthopedic medical devices, and commonly used prescription medications. Because of Kevin’s emphasis on working with pharmaceutical and medical device companies, he is familiar with the research process and the clinical and regulatory aspects used in the industry.
He has extensive experience in complex litigation, and has handled a wide variety of aspects in the litigation lifecycle from initial pleadings, law and motion, discovery through pretrial proceedings.
Kevin has also presented seminars and written materials on diversity jurisdiction in federal court, removals, fraudulent joinder, and personal jurisdiction, and has been a guest contributor to the Drug & Device Law Blog, founded by Jim Beck. He has also assisted in the drafting of two amicus curiae appellate briefs in education reform cases in the California Court of Appeal including the recent case of Vergara v. State of California, which has garnered national attention.
Kevin is the associate liaison and along with Luke Debevec, is the co-founder of LEADRS (Looking For Excellence And Advancement of Disabled Attorneys at Reed Smith), a diversity affinity group that is part of Reed Smith’s diversity initiative. LEADRS strives to support and enhance the professional, personal, and career development of attorneys with disabilities of all types, physical and mental.
