Thomas is a member of the firm's Managed Care Team within its Global Commercial Disputes Group. He has extensive experience in managed care litigation, including complex, high-stakes litigation involving ERISA, the Federal Employee Health Benefits Act, the Affordable Care Act, Medicare and Medicaid, insurance bad faith, state statutory claims, pricing disputes and other issues.
Thomas also has extensive experience litigating creditor’s rights cases in both state and federal courts.
He has assisted clients in a range of complex litigation matters, including:
- Medical provider suits against insurance payers involving thousands of individual benefits claims
- Member suits against insurance payers under ERISA and state law
- Complex ERISA litigation
- Complex Medicaid litigation
- Commercial mortgage foreclosures
- Multi-plaintiff securities fraud litigation
- Complex employment disputes
- Representation of secured creditors in bankruptcy proceedings
In addition, Thomas has a commitment to pro bono work. He has worked on Criminal Justice Act appeals to the Seventh Circuit, National Immigrant Justice Clinic asylum cases, and on matters before the Chicago Commission on Human Rights.
