Samantha is a partner in Reed Smith’s Global Corporate Group who focuses on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and equity capital markets.
Samantha has extensive experience of acting for companies and their advisers on IPOs and secondary transactions both on AIM and on the main market of the London Stock Exchange and on transactions involving the Toronto and Australian exchanges. She regularly advises on a range of domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, joint ventures, public takeovers, regulatory compliance and continuing obligations under the relevant market rules.
Samantha’s clients include investment banks, financial advisors/sponsors and brokers, as well as start-ups seeking initial investment, through to listed companies with multi-million market capitalisations. She has significant experience in a range of sectors, including life sciences, health care, cannabis, tech, retail and consumer, and gaming. Samantha established and led the UK Cannabis Group and co-led the Life Sciences sector at her previous firm.
Samantha’s career history includes a secondment to the corporate finance team of Singer Capital Markets. At her previous firm, she co-authored the AIM chapter in the World Stock Exchanges – A Practical Guide publication and contributed to the English law report in the World Law Group’s 2020 Global Report on Cannabis Policy.
Samantha has been consistently ranked as a Global Top 200 Cannabis Lawyer and received the award for Law Firm of the Year at the Business of Cannabis Awards in 2024.
Samantha was a vice president on the Board of the Canada-UK Chamber of Commerce from 2018 to 2024.
