Matthew is a partner in Reed Smith’s Energy and Natural Resources Group and concentrates his practice in commercial lending, acquisition finance, inventory finance, receivables finance and other types of trade finance and commercial arrangements related to logistics assets utilized for the storage, processing and transportation of physical commodities. Matthew has advised clients in the commodities industry in connection with domestic and cross-border credit facilities, commercial paper programs and receivables securitizations. Matthew also has significant experience representing multinational commodity trading companies in connection with tolling, throughput and revenue commitment arrangements involving terminals, storage facilities, refineries, splitters and other logistical assets located in the United States, Canada and Latin America. He has also advised private equity sponsors and portfolio companies in lending transaction, such as syndicated acquisition financings and subordinated indebtedness. He has negotiated transactions in North America, the Caribbean, Latin America and Europe.
