Jo is counsel in Reed Smith’s Labor and Employment Group in London. She has extensive experience supporting clients across a range of sectors including finance, insurance, retail, media and telecommunications.
Jo advises clients on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters including grievance and disciplinary processes, redundancies and restructuring, discrimination, and the employment aspects of corporate transactions.
Jo has extensive experience of conducting and advising on major internal investigations on behalf of clients, including in respect of serious employee misconduct, whistleblowing, discrimination and sexual harassment. She expertly guides clients through the legal and regulatory landscape in these very sensitive situations.
Jo regularly acts for employers in defending various types of complex and high-value Employment Tribunal claims, including discrimination, whistleblowing and TUPE-related claims. She has extensive experience of managing the reputational, financial, employee relations and regulatory risks and issues which arise in senior executive disputes, along with achieving resolution via private and judicial mediation. Jo also has significant experience acting for clients in employment litigation before the High Court, including taking steps to enforce post-termination restrictive covenants and protecting confidential information.
Jo provides strategic advice on large-scale, international projects, including global restructuring processes and remuneration reviews. She has managed numerous employment due diligence processes for global clients, including reviewing current documentation and practices, identifying areas of risk, and advising on and implementing solutions through new documentation and practices.
Jo frequently provides training to clients on a range of employment law issues.
