Thao is a member of Reed Smith’s Business & Finance department. He has extensive experience counseling clients on the formation and day-to-day operations of hedge funds and private equity funds, both domestic and offshore. He has also assisted clients with the formation of both state and SEC-registered investment advisory firms, as well as the formation of broker-dealers and their registration with FINRA. He has also counseled clients on CFTC rules relating to CPO and CTA registration and on the formation of commodity pools. He is a frequent speaker on investment company and investment advisory legal issues.
