The Insurance Recovery Group will have several of our lawyers speaking during plenaries and breakout panels at the event, which focuses on the latest developments in insurance law and features.

John Ellison will moderate a breakout session titled “Arbitration, Mediation, Litigation, or Something Else? What Is the Best Option for Your Matter and Why?” that will explore the advantages and disadvantages of various ADR and litigation options for resolving insurance coverage disputes. John will be joined on the panel by Erica Kerstein of Robinson & Cole LLP, Andrew Nadolna of JAMS, and Paul Van Osselaer of Van Osselaer Dispute Resolution PLLC.

Jim Cooper will moderate a session titled “View from the Bench: Effective Advocacy at the Trial Court Level on Appeal” that will bring together exceptional judges from across the country to offer their perspectives on effective advocacy, whether during the course of litigating coverage disputes, before the trial court, or advocating coverage positions on appeal. Jim will be joined on the panel by Hon. Jeffrey V. Brown of U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Hon. Andrew M. Edison of U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Hon. Ralph R. Erickson of U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and Hon John C. Hinderaker of U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona.

Richard Lewis will join a panel session titled “Navigating the Landscape of Emerging Claims under Liability and Bermuda Form Policies” that will explore emerging claims impacting liability and Bermuda Form policies, potential coverage issues, practical tips for conducting these arbitrations, and arbitrators’ duties to disclose prior appointments. Richard will be joined by Alex Howard of Ascot Group, Lorelie Masters of Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP and moderator, Mina Matin of Norton Rose Fulbright.

Max Louik will join a roundtable discussion titled “Sky-High Stakes: The Multi-Billion Dollar Russian Aviation Insurance Coverage Litigations”. This roundtable will explore the complex, multi-billion-dollar Russian aviation litigations that unfolded across various jurisdictions, examining the perspectives of both the insureds and insurers alike. Max will be joined by Lindsay Brandt Jakubowitz of McGuireWoods LLP and Zoheb Noorani of O’Melveny & Meyers LLP.

John Vishneski will join a roundtable discussion titled “Knowledge Qualifiers and Representations and Warranties Coverage”. This roundtable explores “knowledge qualifiers” such as “to the Company’s knowledge” that are in, or the Representations and Warranties Insurance (RWI) policy deems to be in, the acquisition agreement’s representations. John will be joined by Michael J. Gridley of Wiley Rein.

Dominic Rupprecht will join a roundtable discussion titled "Best Practices and Challenges in Achieving Effective Risk Transfer”. This roundtable discussion will focus on the best practices and challenges concerning contractual indemnity and additional insured status, including statutory impediments. Dominic will be joined by Matt Rigney of Tollefson Bradley Mitchell & Melendi LLP and Robert Sergesketter of Talos Energy Inc.
