BOSTON – Global law firm Reed Smith announced that finance partner Ian Hohmeister has been named the inaugural office managing partner of its Boston office.

“Ian is the ideal fit to lead our Boston office.  He is a forward-thinking leader with the energy and vision to grow our Boston offering,” said Julie Hardin, Reed Smith's Managing Partner – Americas.  “With a successful cross-border and digital asset finance practice, Ian pairs deep legal knowledge with a clear focus on AI and innovation, positioning the office to be at the forefront of a rapidly evolving market. Best of all, Ian fosters a culture where our people and our clients can thrive.”

Reed Smith opened its Boston office in March as the firm's 34th global office and 21st in the United States. The office launched with transactional, regulatory, and advisory capabilities to serve private equity and growth equity sponsors, financial institutions, and fund managers. The firm expanded the office in April with a six-lawyer litigation team, strengthening its class action, commercial dispute, and employment counseling offerings for the consumer goods, retail, and financial services sectors.

“I’m honored and energized by the opportunity to lead our Boston office at such an exciting moment for the firm. We see tremendous momentum in this market and expect to continue expanding our capabilities and team to meet growing client demand. The reception from clients and the broader Boston community has been extraordinary, and it reinforces our confidence that we’re building something truly special here,” said Hohmeister.

Hohmeister advises banks and private credit providers on financing transactions across the fintech, digital assets, technology, and life sciences sectors. He regularly handles domestic and cross-border financings.
