Global law firm Reed Smith advised Los Angeles-based private equity fund Fusion Capital Partners and its portfolio company Tavoron, a leader in industrial automation, robotics, compressed air, motion control, and engineered solutions, in the acquisition of Fluidraulics Inc., an automation component and system distributor providing application and implementation support to the medical and industrial sectors.

The cross-office deal team was led by private equity partner Nick Gibson and associates Austin McCarthy, Crockett Stevenson and Sudeep Kalkunte.

The acquisition, Tavoron’s fifth add-on since its partnership with Fusion, expands its automation distribution business and strengthens its motion control offerings. Fluidraulics is a leading seller and distributor of flow control, motion control, automation and fluid power products, including air cylinders, actuators, grippers, valves, fittings, sensors, and FRLs. Fluidraulics brings deep vendor relationships, technical experience, and customer support for selecting and deploying those products. Tavoron will also extend its reach into the Pittsburgh and Cleveland markets, where Fluidraulics will continue serving customers.

The Reed Smith deal team included partners Simon Kliegman, Ian Sherwin, Paulo McKeeby, Matt San Roman, Daniel Hagedorn, Michael Lowell and A.J. Wissinger, counsel Joseph Mammone, and associates Michelle DiPuma, Erin Stidham, Batool Banker, Michaela Mapes, Denver Ellison, Erika Yeager and Clirae Bourke.
