Mike’s practice includes sophisticated and proactive estate and gift tax planning, involving grantor-retained annuity trusts, family partnerships, limited liability companies, generation-skipping tax planning, insurance planning, and intra-family sales. He represents both private and publicly-held family businesses, with special emphasis on the integration of tax, business, and personal aspects of succession planning. He also represents corporate and individual trustees in settling estates of complex holdings, and taxpayers in estate and gift tax audits. Mike structures charitable contributions to achieve maximum personal and tax benefits through vehicles such as charitable lead trusts, charitable remainder trusts, private foundations, and donor advised funds. He provides advice to fiduciaries on technical aspects of tax, estate, and trust law. Mike also represents beneficiaries and fiduciaries in estate and trust disputes and litigation.
