Matt defends MedTech and life sciences companies in complex tort litigation of all sizes: class actions, multi-district litigation (MDL), and single plaintiff cases.
In these mass tort litigations, Matt focuses on scientific, medical, and regulatory issues, including formulating strategies, fact and expert discovery, motions, and managing large-scale litigation. In addition to preparing numerous cases for trial, he has taken and defended more than 1,000 fact and expert witness depositions and developed novel case theories and defenses.
Matt has worked on cases involving a wide range of consumer products and issues, with cases pending in courts in the United States and around the world. His practice also focuses on the legal issues associated with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), and he is considered a thought leader on such issues, regularly speaking and advising on the topic. Matt has also handled toxic tort cases involving asbestos, ethylene oxide, mold, water contamination, and latex glove liability. In particular, Matt handled a purported toxic tort class action involving an air conditioning manufacturer.
A portion of Matt’s practice involves assisting companies in responding to government investigations and advising on a range of product and regulatory issues. Matt is also a frequent speaker and author on issues related to the intersection between 3D printing and product liability.
Matt is a Judge Advocate for the U.S. Army Reserve.
