Josh is an associate in the Firm’s Labor and Employment group. Drawing upon his experience as a law clerk to Judge D. Michael Fisher on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, Josh’s practice focuses on representing employers in litigation across the entire employment spectrum in federal and state court, before agencies including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, related state agencies, and the National Labor Relations Board, and in confidential arbitration.
Specifically, Josh defends employers against complex class and collective action claims of wage-and-hour violations and misclassification under federal and state laws and against allegations of harassment, retaliation, discrimination, wrongful discharge, and breach of contract. Josh also has experience representing employers in traditional labor matters.
In addition to successfully litigating matters, Josh has significant experience counseling clients on all manner of labor and employment issues, including negotiating employment contracts and separation agreements, navigating complex independent contractor and joint employment issues, and handling internal investigations, company-wide pay equity analyses, and pre- and post-election traditional labor matters.
Josh has represented pro bono clients in matters concerning constitutional issues at the trial and appellate levels and has assisted pro se litigants through the Western District of Pennsylvania's Pro Se Pro Bono Alternative Dispute Resolution program.
Josh is significantly involved in the local bar and in the broader Pittsburgh community, including serving as a mock trial coach and mentor to students at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, running the Allegheny County Bar Association Soccer League, and raising funds as a 2023 honoree of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest and as a 2024 50 Finest Mentor.
Between his appellate clerkship and joining Reed Smith, Josh worked as a labor and employment associate in the Pittsburgh office of an international law firm.
