In 2020, the public’s attention focused on racial inequality, social justice, and representation issues with an unprecedented urgency, giving visibility and momentum to social movements that had struggled to gain traction for years. As a result, organizations were compelled to examine their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) policies and programs quickly, and in ways they hadn’t done before.

Event Type: Webinar, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

30 September 2021, 11:00 AM EDT
End Date/Time:

Reed Smith's fifth annual Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Summit will examine how 2020 accelerated the call for DE&I in the workplace and what organizations should be doing now to move toward a more inclusive and equitable legal profession going forward. Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Eddie S. Glaude Jr., New York Times best-selling author and chair of Princeton’s Department of African American Studies. As an intellectual who speaks to the complex dynamics of the American experience, Dr. Glaude challenges organizations to go beyond just stating their DE&I vision to authentically living its values. Viewing DE&I through an ethical and highly pragmatic lens, Dr. Glaude urges organizations to set bold goals and shift their approaches to create an environment that truly leverages talent and maximizes it at all levels – from junior employees to the C-suite.
