The session will address critical issues surrounding the accessibility and affordability of arbitration for parties in Africa.

Discussion topics will include the cost of arbitration, the complex issue of parties lacking the financial means to initiate arbitration proceedings, and potential strategies to assist parties in accessing arbitral justice in Africa, including an exploration of the role of third-party funding.

Our panelists, all of whom possess extensive knowledge of and experience in arbitration in Africa, will cover questions such as “Is third-party funding a gimmick or the key to arbitration sustainability in the region?” and “Is the cost to access justice too high?”, and shed light on practical solutions and initiatives to enhance access to arbitral justice for all parties in Africa.
