This co-hosted session will explore how following several initiatives by the IBA and other international organizations to avoid the excessive repetition of arbitrator appointments by a party and conflicts arising from the same have promoted the rise of new voices from different parts of the globe to be appointed to international arbitration tribunals. The session will explore how institutions propose arbitrators on slates that may have limited appointments, as well as the rise of female arbitrator appointments, as well as perspectives from private practices.

Enhancing diversity in arbitrator appointments enables arbitral tribunals to better reflect the global and multicultural nature of disputes, fostering greater legitimacy, fairness and trust in the arbitration process.
