Cheng serves as the U.S. Vice Chair of the firm’s Global Corporate Group and formerly served as the Global Vice Chair of the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions Group. She is based in the firm’s New York office. Her practice focuses on representing Fortune 500, international, and middle-market companies in a wide range of corporate transactions both domestic and cross-border, including take privates, public and private mergers, asset and stock acquisitions and divestitures, auctions, joint ventures, corporate restructurings, private equity investments and distress and bankruptcy related acquisitions and divestitures.
Cheng has particular experience in representing publicly listed companies in a variety of corporate transactions, including the sale of the company. She also represents financial advisors in fairness opinions and valuation-related work. In addition, she advises on issues of corporate governance and other general corporate matters.
Pope is a partner and commercial litigator in the Chicago office and a member of its IP practice. He is a successful trial lawyer, trusted advisor and consummate technophile representing individuals and companies worldwide and achieving transformative results. He represents clients across the United States in the full gamut of IP, entertainment and media, contractual disputes, supply chain, insurance coverage, risk management and compliance, labor and employment, and bankruptcy and restructuring matters.
A former electrical engineer for a Fortune 100 equipment manufacturer, Pope leverages his technical training to skillfully dissect and digest complex patent concepts and effectively communicate the components of a matter to judges, juries, fellow lawyers, and business stakeholders. He litigates matters involving myriad technologies, including, video games, software, automotive systems, cloud computing, smart meters, smartphones, digital cameras, Bluetooth devices, wireless communication, power consumption, barcodes, and business methods.
