This is Box’s fifth appearance and Ryan’s second on the prestigious list. INvolve’s criteria for selection are women’s seniority and influence in their workplace roles; the work they do within and outside of their organizations to champion women; and their recent and significant business achievements.
Casey Ryan
Ryan, who was first honored by INvolve in 2019, is recognized this year for the ongoing impact she has on women’s empowerment and advancement through her leadership of Reed Smith’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Program; the Women's Initiative Network of Reed Smith (WINRS); and the firmwide innovative recruiting, retention and hiring programs for lawyers and staff she develops and sustains.
In the past year, Ryan oversaw a successful launch of the Family Network, including introduction of benefits such as childcare, tutoring, and peer-to-peer networking, as well as resources to achieve a work-life balance across all family stages. In addition, an innovative Family Support Initiative launched in 2020 to address COVID-19 family challenges was further enhanced this year with her support and guidance.
Other gender-affirming policies implemented under Ryan’s leadership include a global flexible working policy to provide for agile work; expanded maternity and adoption leave policies; and a Declared Pronoun policy focused on communicating preferred pronouns.
Tamara Box
Box was again recognized for her unflagging promotion of women’s advancement and success as a committed advocate for gender equality and inclusion across all levels of Reed Smith’s business and throughout the U.S. and EME.
As EME managing partner she is involved with WINRS and the 30% Club’s mentoring scheme to promote gender balance on boards and senior management of organizations of all types across the UK market. A founding member and steering committee member of the 30% Club, Box is also a sponsor of the PowerWomen Network; chair of Women of Influence, which mentors and fundraises for women fellows; and a founding member of Paradigm for Parity, a gender balance campaign that has secured support from CEOs of major, global corporations to increase gender equality.
Earlier this year, Box was named to the IFLR1000 Women’s List in the UK, the fourth time she has earned recognition as one of the most prominent lawyers in financial and corporate law. Renowned as an instrumental voice for women in Europe and the Middle East, she is an in-demand presenter at financial and legal industry events on topics related to financial and corporate law, as well as topics related to the advancement of women in law and other professions.
