Marty is a member of the firm's Global Commercial Disputes Group, and he is an experienced trial attorney who devotes his entire practice to managed care litigation and counseling. He has litigated a variety of complex individual, multi-party and class action managed-care cases across the country involving issues such as ERISA, RICO, the Affordable Care Act, the Mental Health Parity Act, provider networks, claims-denials, prompt pay, bad faith, breach of contract, and a variety of common law claims.
Marty is a thought leader who stays abreast of the latest industry trends and who, along with the Managed Care team, authored the Managed Care Outlook, an in-depth look into the key themes and issues managed care organizations could face in 2023 and beyond.
He is a member of the Trial Bar and has litigated and tried cases in jurisdictions across the continental United States and Puerto Rico. Marty also has extensive experience in federal and state appeals.
In addition to his legal work, Marty is deeply committed to pro bono and community service. He has donated his time and services to Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, Lawyers for the Creative Arts, the American Civil Liberties Union, and HotHouse/Center for International Performance and Exhibition.
He also frequently writes and lectures about a variety of topics. In the area of consumer financial services, he is the founder, former editor and a contributor to the CFSL Bulletin, a blog devoted to legal developments in consumer financial services litigation. In addition, Marty regularly speaks on developments in this area, including the recent changes under Title X of the Dodd-Frank Act. He also served on the editorial board of Law360’s Privacy & Consumer Protection publication.
