Ken joined Reed Smith Richards Butler in July 2018 and is an associate in the corporate group of the Hong Kong office. He qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 2016. Ken has been involved in board range of corporate commercial work, including cross-border mergers and acquisitions, advice on general corporate matters and commercial agreements. Ken has also been involved in capital markets transactions including advising issuers and underwriters on equity securities offering and Hong Kong listing rules compliance related matters.
Prior to joining Reed Smith Richards Butler, Ken has been involved in the formation of a joint venture between CK Hutchison Holdings and Ant Financial Services Group the parent company of Alipay, to operate Alipay’s consumer-oriented digital wallet under “Alipay HK” brand in Hong Kong, a service dedicated to local-currency which integrates online and offline payments to consumers. In this project, Ken provided advice on the corporate aspects of the joint venture.
On the capital markets side, Ken has played a major role in advising China Maple Leaf Educational Systems Limited, a company listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, on its successful top-up placing of shares which raised gross proceeds of more than HK$1 billion which will be used in support of the Group’s expansion strategy in acquiring suitable target companies or businesses.
