Her diverse and dynamic practice encompasses international commercial arbitration, mediation, and litigation, with a focus on complex, high-value, cross-border disputes. Joyce delivers strategic, pragmatic, and effective solutions for her clients and she has successfully represented clients from various industries, such as energy and natural resources, life sciences, transportation and emerging technologies. Joyce is also a member of the firm’s Retail & Consumer Goods group.
Joyce has a keen insight into the legal and cultural dynamics of the Asia Pacific region, having grown up in Malaysia and been based in Singapore since 2013. She is adept at navigating the rules and procedures of the major arbitral institutions, including SIAC, ICC, LCIA, and HKIAC, and has extensive experience managing complex court proceedings in various jurisdictions including London, Singapore, Korea, India, Hong Kong, and Australia.
Joyce is a recognized thought leader in the field of international arbitration. She co-authored the Practical Law practice note on arbitration in Singapore, which provides comprehensive and practical guidance on the legal framework of arbitration in Singapore. She also regularly publishes thought leadership in respect of arbitration-related developments in England and Wales and Singapore.
Beyond her fee-earning practice, Joyce is a leader in pro bono and diversity initiatives within Reed Smith. She spearheads the firm’s pro bono activities in Singapore, providing legal assistance to various causes and communities. In recognition of her outstanding pro bono contribution, she received an honorable mention in Reed Smith’s Sean Halpin Award in 2021. Joyce also leads the firm’s Women’s Initiative Network in Singapore, championing gender diversity and equality within the firm.
