Min Li

Having previously established himself as a leading practitioner in shipping and maritime disputes  – a practice that he continues to maintain – Min has, over the past decade, successfully transitioned his practice to focus on complex cross-border commercial litigation and arbitration, with involvement in several high-profile and precedent-setting cases before the Hong Kong and English courts.

Min’s practice covers a wide spectrum of complex and cross-border disputes, including high-value shareholder and equity-related disputes, complex multi-jurisdictional commercial matters, civil fraud and asset recovery, cybercrime, urgent asset preservation (Mareva injunctions), contentious insolvencies and bankruptcies, receiverships, commodities and trading disputes, and professional negligence, as well as the worldwide enforcement of judgments and arbitral awards. He also regularly advises clients from a range of industries, including the pharmaceutical and life sciences sectors and the data centre operations sector.

Min is highly experienced in handling arbitrations under the rules of leading arbitral institutions, including HKIAC, CIETAC, LCIA, ICC, SIAC, SCMA, and LMAA, and is regularly appointed as an arbitrator in international commercial arbitration proceedings.

Min’s outstanding practice has received broad recognition. He is recognised and ranked in Chambers Asia-Pacific, where clients praise his commercially minded advice and ability to quickly distil and address the key issues in complex matters. He is also recommended by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific, which highlights his professionalism, deep understanding of Chinese business culture, and excellence in communicating with Chinese clients. In the Global Arbitration Review (GAR 100, 18th edition), Min is noted for his impressive expertise in international arbitration. A graduate of Dalian Maritime University (Bachelor of Engineering in International Multimodal Transportation and Master of Laws) and University College London (LL.M.), Min is the co-author of the “Voyage Charterparty” and “Time Charterparty” chapters in Maritime Law and Practice in Hong Kong (Sweet & Maxwell). He is a regular lecturer for educational and commercial organisations and has served as a visiting professor at Dalian Maritime University.

Min is a native Mandarin Chinese speaker and is fluent in English.
