This program will focus on the Employee Free Choice Act (“EFCA”), as previously proposed, and how it would dramatically change the National Labor Relations Act’s provisions on secret ballot elections, first contract negotiations, and remedies for unfair labor practices. President-Elect Obama and Congressional Democrats have promised to enact this bill when they take office in January. Will they succeed?

This teleseminar will be led by members of Reed Smith’s EFCA Task Force. Discussion will include:

  • EFCA’s key provisions and how they would change the National Labor Relations Act
  • The current state of EFCA and Congress
  • The future possible iterations of EFCA
  • What businesses can do now to prepare for the very real possibility that this and other labor law reform legislation will be enacted

At the conclusion of the presentation, clients will have the opportunity to participate in a question-and-answer session. In addition, you may submit in advance questions that members of our Task Force will endeavor to answer. If you would like to submit a question(s) in advance, please send it to Sandy Petrakis in our Marketing Department via email at spetrakis@reedsmith.com.

Moderator: Bill Bevan; Presenters: Jim Burns, Ryan Cassidy, John DiNome, Greg Hessinger
