Margot Machol Bisnow spent most of her career in political positions in the federal government (FTC Commissioner, Chief of Staff of the President's Council of Economic Advisers, and a member or advisor to several commissions), then became publisher of one of Bisnow Media's publications, The Scene. After meeting so many remarkable young entrepreneurs at events hosted by her sons organization, Summit, she began asking them how they were raised so they became willing to put everything on the line for an idea and work so hard to accomplish it. She then became systematic about learning how self-starters got started, thus leading to her book.

Mark Bisnow has been an unproductive but happy citizen since selling Bisnow Media to a private equity firm in April 2016. Though his luck exceeded his skill, it became the worlds largest commercial real estate news and events company. Marks career also includes riding the financial roller coaster at Microstrategy and WebMethods, being a sleep-deprived lawyer at Latham & Watkins and, in a galaxy long ago, press secretary to 1980 presidential candidate John Anderson.
