WASHINGTON, D.C. – Director of the Serious Fraud Office v. Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation Limited, a matter on which Reed Smith was retained by the Law Society of England and Wales, was the recipient of the ‘Most Important Court Case of the Year 2018’ award at Global Investigations Review 2018 Awards in Washington D.C. The event celebrated the investigations, lawyers and practices worldwide which have impressed most in the past year

London partner Eoin O'Shea, who instructed Dinah Rose QC and David Pievsky Blackstone Chambers, led the Reed Smith team to a favourable decision in the English Court of Appeal in September 2018.

Eoin commented: "Naturally I'm delighted that the case has been recognised by GIR as the most important of the year. It brings home the centrality of legal professional privilege ‎to clients facing investigation, as well as their advisers. The law of privilege is critical to lawyer/client confidentiality and the Law Society's successful intervention was concerned with protecting access to justice for all."

Eoin is also the Chairman of the City of London Law Society Corporate Crime Committee.
