“Robyn’s corporate experience in the music space will enhance our already market-leading practice in transactions for music catalogs,” said Stephen Sessa, co-chair of Reed Smith’s Entertainment and Media Industry Group. “Her deal sheet is impressive, having led deals involving some of the world’s most iconic songs and master recordings. Considering the temperature of the acquisition space, and the breadth and scope of our existing client base, Robyn will thrive at Reed Smith and amplify the experience and bench strength we already have as the dominant player in the catalog market and, more generally, as the leader in the M&A space for music and entertainment related assets.”

Sandak was formerly with Alter, Kendrick & Baron LLP and Fox Rothschild LLP where she represented music publishing companies, record labels, private equity and other investment funds, songwriters, artists, and estates in connection with buy-side and sell side equity and asset transactions involving music rights. Additionally, she counselled music, film, television, and theatre clients on optimal corporate structures to meet their creative and business endeavors, negotiated and drafted their complex operating, stockholder, and joint-venture agreements and facilitated their private placements in compliance with state and federal securities laws.

“Reed Smith represents a huge opportunity for me to integrate my proficiency in music catalog transactions into a firm with strong, longstanding relationships within the sector as well as an incredibly deep bench of talent and support,” Sandak said. I am excited to roll up my sleeves and work side by side with, in my mind, the best in the business.”

Sandak is a 1991 graduate of Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and, until recently, was a DJ, spinning house, pop and hip hop the old school way.

Reed Smith’s Entertainment and Media Industry Group handles all aspects of entertainment and media law across advertising and marketing, film and television, music, sports, technology, telecoms, internet, social media, video gaming, interactive or beyond.
